Ectodermal Dysplasia Society

Overview

The Ectodermal Dysplasia Society was the first charity my team and I filmed in my student and charity scheme for the Self Promotion Module at the University of Portsmouth. Overall this project went very well, it was my first time learning the Sony FS7 which later on helped me with my Graduate film, “Perpetuity”, and I wrote a manual on. The 3 interviews will be shown at the Ectodermal Dysplasia Conference of June 2025 and stand as one of the biggest projects I have done to date.

I want to a huge thank you to the amazing team I worked with, Aaron Cadman, Hayden Sellwood, and Ryann Sam who are all fellow student in my year. Alongside this Charlie Watts and Heather Messy have been the foundations of this project and nothing would have happened without their excellence.

What When Well: Being able to meet and interview so many amazing people whilst I got a first hand learning experience about Ectodermal Dysplasia was thrilling. Additionally being able to learn all about the Sony FS7 and use it in a professional manner was a very exciting experience, even today it stands as my favourite camera and one I would be passionate to use again on set.

What I Overcame: A unusual issue unrelated to film at no one could have predicted, see the day of filming my team and I had to drive up to Gloucestershire. It was only the night before production that a huge storm broke out through England. I had AA and a hotel on the speed dial as my car swayed in the winds. I quickly learn the essence of being a good leader includes putting your teams safety first and quit literally pushing through the storm.
